The Disappearing Ink of Kim Kardashian’s Trump Support

The queen of Calabasas was quoted saying she might go for Trump—then the quote magically went away

According to the cover story of the Autumn 2016 issue of the British fashion magazine Wonderland, Kim Kardashian West is seriously thinking about voting for Donald Trump.

Here’s Kim K., in her own words:

“At first I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m so Hillary [Clinton]’, but I had a long political call with Caitlyn last night about why she’s voting Trump. I’m on the fence.”

Kim has been so Hillary, in fact, that she publicly ‘grammed her support of the Democratic nominee over a year ago:

But don’t go looking for that quote in the online version of the story—as far as MEL can tell, Wonderland either deleted the quote or never put it up online in the first place. And based on the social media shitshow that Kardashian’s fence-sitting has inspired, we’re not surprised that the PR queen would want her political flip-flopping redacted from the record:

The quote was first mentioned in an article on The Evening Standard, the free British daily, and was then picked up by The Huffington Post. There, the editors have added a note mentioning that that Kim’s pro-Trump thoughts aren’t up on the Wonderland website, but that they’ve independently confirmed their validity.

At this point, it’s impossible to know whether the Kardashian-West bloc negotiated for the quote to only appear in the print version in advance or put pressure on Wonderland to delete the Trump-related quote after the story went live or—or, indeed, whether Wonderland decided to censor itself so as not to ruffle political feathers on this side of the pond.

Either way, MEL is currently reaching out to Eve Barlow (the LA-based writer behind the story), the Wonderland editorial staff, and the Kardashian team. We’ll let you know if we get any updates.

And it’s worth noting that timidity in the face of celebrity political ire, even from the Kardashians, seems to be the exception in the British press. Just yesterday, Piers Morgan decided to try and stir up some shit between Kim and the Dalai Lama:

Dalai Lama talks Twitter rivalry with Kim Kardashian to Good Morning Britain

Keep up the good work, guys.
