The Online Market for Videos of Girls Getting Wasted

Some women can make thousands of dollars from videos of themselves drinking. Often, they aren’t even nude — the fetish is the drinking itself

As digital sex work has become increasingly popular, TikTok has played a vital role in demonstrating how it’s done. In particular, viral TikToks have highlighted niches within the market that many may not have otherwise thought to pursue, especially when nudity and the other typical strings of sex work don’t necessarily have to be involved. One of these, simply put, is to record yourself blacking out.

In a video posted on September 26th that has now amassed over 130,000 likes and just under 800,000 views, creator @sydneysomethin introduces the concept. “Welcome to how to be an ‘accountant,’ drinking edition,” she begins, referring to the popular TikTok codeword of saying you’re an accountant when you actually make your income in a less publicly acceptable way. “I know Clips4Sale is overwhelming, you don’t know what to do, but you know what you do anyway probably? Drink. Film that shit and make money.”

She goes on to explain that she’s made nine drinking videos over the last year, offering two different versions of each, for a total of 18 videos for sale on the amateur porn site Clips4Sale. She states that from these videos, she’s made $12,640 from sales, as well as an additional $8,000 from “customs.” She doesn’t explain the specifics of what “customs” are in this video, but it’s likely the creation of customized videos that individual customers have commissioned after purchasing one of her other drinking clips.

In a second video on the topic, Sydney further explains that it is indeed possible to make money on videos that only involve drinking. While she has created videos that incorporate nudity and masturbation, she claims her nude videos sell at about the same rate as her non-nude ones. “They really just want to see you drunk,” she says.

Getting drunk is, obviously, an essential part of the whole genre, and points to one of the only guiding principles of this form of content creation: You have to actually get drunk on real alcohol. Fakers will be shunned, according to Sydney, and it’s recommended that you open your beer, wine or liquor on camera so that viewers can be confident you haven’t replaced the alcohol with something else.

On Clips4Sale, which largely features specialized fetish videos from individual content creators, there is an entire category devoted to drinking, and currently 3,201 videos tagged “Drinking.” Within the genre, there are multiple different variations and other fetishes that might be incorporated. For example, one video titled “Former Athlete Quits to Get Hammered and Gain Weight” incorporates a weight-gain fetish. Another video, “Girlfriend Drinks Until Blacked Out,” utilizes girlfriend roleplaying. Both are around 50 minutes, and sell for a dollar per minute.

In most of these videos, roleplaying seems to be a major feature, even if the drinking itself is real. Some seem even more explicitly depressing and dark, with thumbnails showing makeup running down the creator’s face or lipstick smeared across their mouth, as if they’ve been crying or are generally just an alcoholic mess. One particular video with this style of thumbnail is called “What to Do With a Limp Blonde.” Though some seem to focus on a relatively lighthearted concept of drinking with a girlfriend or watching a woman get tipsy and have fun, others clearly emphasize the fantasy of taking advantage of a drunk woman.

Again, it seems to primarily involve roleplay, and it’s possible that it could be a useful outlet for people with more predatory inclinations, rather than pursuing them in the real world. One thing Sydney emphasizes in her TikToks is that those who attempt to make these videos know their limits well and have someone else home to help take care of them. “Please, please, please be safe. Don’t over-consume,” she says.

With platforms like OnlyFans and other forms of online sex work becoming seemingly more mainstream, our exposure to the previously niche markets within online sex work will likely only increase, as well. Perhaps it seems strange to suggest something like a video of getting drunk could be a money-making avenue, but as Sydney’s success proves, the guys who want to watch women get drunk for a dollar a minute are already out there.
